Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Adopting a Puppy

How do I adopt a Golden Retriever puppy?

We have outlined our adoption process in detail here. In short, it's a simple 4 step process. You need to fill out the Puppy Inquiry Form, pay us a $200 deposit to join our waitlist and another $300 when the puppies are born, pick the puppy you like most, pay the balance and pick up your puppy when they're ready to go, after 8 weeks of being born.

Where are you located?

Depending on the litter, it'll either be Pickering, Ontario, Canada or on Heaver Dr. in Whitby, Ontario, Canada. This is right in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA), East of Toronto.

How much are the puppies?

Our Golden Retriever puppies are mid-range when it comes to price in the Ontario, Canada market at $3,700. Click here for more information about our pricing and guarantees.

When you buy with us you can buy with confidence. You are not only buying a random puppy with unknown and mixed genes, but rather a truly outstanding bloodline purebred English Cream Golden Retriever. Both the sire (dad) and dam (mom) come with pedigrees. Additionally, every puppy comes with all the proper paperwork, CKC registration, and an agreement. You are also buying a well-socialized puppy from a breeder with a lot of experience.

Do you currently have puppies available?

We have fantastic news! Mira just gave birth to a 6 puppy litter on May 30, 2025! There are 2 males and 4 females. Duke is the sire for this litter.

Unfortunately, all of them are already reserved due to the size of our waitlist.

Our next litter is scheduled for the beginning of 2026. But due to the size of our waitlist, it's fully reserved. Our waitlist is until roughly 2028.

Usually by the time puppies are born, they're all reserved, so be sure to submit the form as soon as possible. We will respond within 24 hours with next steps in the puppy adoption process.

Do I need to provide a deposit to join the waitlist or reserve a puppy?

Yes, to join and stay on our waitlist, we do require a $200 partial deposit. The partial deposit is refundable if we don't have enough puppies in the next litter or the timing doesn't work out for you.

Once a litter is born, another $300 deposit (for $500 total) is due to reserve one of the puppies for you. Once a puppy is reserved for you from the born litter, the full $500 deposit becomes non-refundable. All deposits are used towards the purchase price of $3,700 for the puppy.

What will my puppy come with when I pick him or her up?

All our puppies are CKC registered and come dewormed, microchipped, health checked and with their first vaccination set. Since the puppies are CKC registered, you will also get complimentary 30-day free pet insurance from Trupanion through CKC. We will also give you a small blanket with the mother's and siblings' smells so that it's easier for the puppy to transition to their new home. Additionally, you'll receive a kibble start food bag. You'll also be signing a purchase agreement and will get a copy of that. Within a few months of picking your puppy up, you’ll receive your Canadian Kennel Club (CKC) papers via email. To read more about this and adoption, check out the process of adoption.

Do you provide a health guarantee?

Yes, our puppies come with a one-year health guarantee. In the extremely unlikely event that your puppy has to be put down for any congenital reason before the age of one, we (Cream Goldens) will give you a full refund or, if puppies are available, a new puppy. More details will be available in our contract when you adopt a puppy and you can also read more about our guarantees by clicking here.

Are the puppies vaccinated, dewormed, and health checked?

Yes, before you pick up your new puppy they have their first vaccination set, dewormed multiple times, and are health checked.

Do I get to pick my puppy?

Generally, yes, depending on the availability. After you fill out the Puppy Inquiry Form and reserve a recently born puppy by providing a $200 deposit to join the waitlist and $300 deposit when the puppies are born (for a $500 total deposit that's used towards the purchase price), you can either pick a puppy through our puppies section on the site, or via video call or in-person. To read more about how to pick your puppy and adoption, check out our process of adoption.

How do you raise and socialize your puppies?

The first few weeks of a puppy’s life are crucial when it comes to their experience. It is very important that during the first 8 weeks, newborn puppies are kept with their brothers and sisters, as well as their mom. Their siblings and mom are from whom they learn how to act and play appropriately. This is the time when they start interacting with the world and learn important life lessons.

We’ve outlined details on how we raise and socialize our puppies in detail here. In short, we introduce the puppies to other pets and people, different objects and toys, sounds, and early neurological stimulation (ENS).

Are both parents on-site?

It's generally difficult to have both, the mom and the dad, on-site at all times. The dam, or mother, is always there with the puppies because she's the one feeding them. But the sire, or father, is not always on-site. Sometimes he will be and we can arrange for him to be there if you want to see him in-person or via video call when you pick the puppy you like.

After Adoption

What initial items do I need to buy for my new puppy?

We provided a detailed description and full list in our article on what to buy for your new puppy. In short, there are a number of items you need to buy when you get a pet dog and some items that are optional. You must buy 2 bowls, puppy food, a collar, a leash, poop bags, a nail clipper or grinder, puppy teething toys, enzyme cleaner, ID tag and the municipality dog license, among other things. The items that are optional to buy are a crate, dog bed, potty training pad, training clicker, treats, a pouch to store treats, a food container, toys, grooming brush, comb, shampoo for dogs, play pan or baby gate, poop scooper, and pet insurance, among other things.

What food should I purchase for my puppy?

When you pick up your puppy, we will give you a started kibble bag. The kibble we provide is Purina Pro Plan Puppy Lamb and Rice Formula. You'll need to keep the puppy on this kibble for at least the week or two. If you want to transition to another kibble or a raw diet, do it gradually over a few days or even weeks.

Do you offer returns or refunds?

We only offer returns or refunds for the following reasons:
  • The puppy fails a vet examination within 72 hours of purchase.
  • Or the puppy has to be put down for any congenital reason before the age of one.

How much to feed my puppy?

When you just take your puppy home at 2 months old, they will typically need to eat about 1-2 cups of kibble per day, at least when it comes to the Purina Pro Plan Puppy Lamb and Rice Formula kibble. Some puppies may require more food compared to others due to energy levels, size, personality, and other factors. Therefore, adjust the amount accordingly. Make sure to provide fresh water and feed your puppy multiple times per day, ideally every 3-4 hours at first.
As they grow older and gain weight, the feeding amount will increase. The recommended feeding amount depends on their age and weight. Golden Retrievers grow to weigh about 60 to 90 lbs, with males typically weighing more than females. You can find the recommended feeding amount guidance on the back of the kibble bag:
Feeding amount

  • It's important to register the puppy's microchip in case the puppy is ever lost.
  • Provide fresh water and feed your puppy every 3-4 hours, at least 3-4 times per day at first.
  • Start potty training the very first day you get the puppy.

Canadian Kennel Club (CKC) and Breeding

Are you a registered breeder?

Yes, we are a registered breeder with the Canadian Kennel Club (CKC). Our kennel is called Cream Goldens. You can click here to view us on the CKC website.

What is CKC registration?

CKC stands for Canadian Kennel Club. As the name suggests, it’s one of the national kennel clubs in Canada. They are the national primary registry body for purebred dogs in Canada. As of 2022, CKC recognizes 187 breeds, one of which is the Golden Retriever. CKC is, by far, the largest and most recognized kennel club in Canada. When your puppy is CKC registered, you know that it’s a true purebred dog.

Will my puppy come CKC registered?

Yes, we will register your puppy with the Canadian Kennel Club (CKC). You'll receive the papers via email.

When will I receive my puppy CKC registration?

The puppy litter gets Canadian Kennel Club (CKC) registered within days after a litter is born. Puppy litter CKC registration is not the same thing as the registration of each individual puppy with CKC. We can not apply for CKC registration for any puppy until the puppy is re-homed. You will receive your CKC registration via email within 3 to 6 months of your adoption date.

Why does my dog's name in the CKC registration have Cream Goldens in it?

Each of our dog’s registered names has the breeder's kennel name in it to indicate where it came from. It also helps to make names unique within the breed registry. That’s why we start each dog’s name with Cream Goldens.

Do you sell puppies with breeding rights?

Yes, we sell English Golden Retriever puppies with breeding rights. This would only be allowed for registered breeders. Contact us using the form below if you're a breeder and are looking for breeding rights. The price of our puppies with breeding rights is $6,000.

Aside from this exception, our agreements are strictly non-breeding. You will need to sign the CKC non-breeding agreement when adopting a puppy from us.

Do you provide stud service?

Yes, contact us using the form below if you're a breeder and are looking for stud services.

General Questions

What is English Cream?

English Cream refers to a type of Golden Retriever. It's not it's own breed, it's still a Golden Retriever. It refers to the origin or bloodline (English - England or Britain) and the colour (Cream - white, pale, light fur) of the Golden Retriever. They're also called European, British type, White, or Blonde Golden Retrievers.

Generally, English Cream Goldens are more mellow, calmer, have a blocky head that is bigger and they're also about an inch shorter (22-24 inches for males and 20-22 inches for females, from paw to shoulder) than other types of Golden Retrievers. You can read more about the difference between English Cream, American, Canadian Golden Retrievers here.

If you are looking for a wonderful English cream golden retriever puppy this is an amazing breeder to purchase 1 from. Kiril and olesya are great to deal with and will try to accommodate your specific situation as best as they possibly can while raising excellent puppies and sending constant updates and pictures so you can watch them grow! I purchased a male Teddy recently and he is growing (maybe a little too well😀) into a great dog with that great happy go lucky temperament that a golden should have!

We had an amazing experience with this breeder! They truly care about their clients and provide exceptional service. Unfortunately, we had to cancel our spot on the waiting list for a dog, but they handled it with such understanding and kindness. They refunded us within minutes, which we deeply appreciated.

Their dogs are absolutely beautiful and well cared for, and it’s clear they put their heart and soul into what they do. I highly recommend them to anyone looking for a responsible and trustworthy breeder. They’re simply awesome!

Kiril and Olesya are fantastic! They kept us apprised throughout the entire process and answered any questions they had. They shared pictures of the puppies in their different growth stages and provided us with ample information (especially as first time dog owners) and what to have, expect and what to do moving forward once we got our puppy. They've also made themselves available after getting our puppy to answer any questions. They're kind and have raised beautiful dogs who you can tell were loved and well taken care of. I highly recommend them if you're interested in getting a dog. Especially this wonderful breed.

Our baby is home! Miss "Orange" Duchess is a welcome to our family. She is spoiled!! The process start to finish was super easy. Excellent communication from the breeders. Pictures when we asked. There was a lot information provided thru their website that I felt comfortable not looking any further at another breeder. Would definitely adopt another family member from CREAM GOLDENS in the future (I've already inquired).
Thank you again for everything

For a month, I researched breeders and their websites to choose a puppy and a breeder. I found Kirill and Olesya's website and was thrilled! There was a lot of useful and relevant information about what to buy, how to prepare for the puppy's arrival, and more. I realized this was exactly what I needed, and I was right!
Kirill and Olesya constantly sent videos and photos of the puppies and their development until we picked up our puppy ❤️
After we brought our Ovi home, they continued to provide advice on how to help the puppy adjust to the new home.
Thank you so much for making our family even happier!!!
